AutoBinck Group has named Martijn Koning to a seat on its Executive Board.
From 1 September, he will join Paul Zekhuis and Michel Cornelissen in providing day-to-day leadership to the group. In addition to his role as Board member, Koning has also been appointed Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) and Chief Digital Officer (CDO).

Strengthening the push towards digitisation and sustainability

AutoBinck intends to expand its digital possibilities. In his role as Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) and Chief Digital Officer (CDO), Koning will work to further realise this ambition, both across the company as a whole and specifically with regard to sustainability – a major pillar of AutoBinck Group.

Background

Martijn Koning studied Business Administration at the University of Groningen, going on to spend the next eighteen years in a variety of management positions at KPN. By the time he left the telecom giant, Koning was responsible for Digital, Omnichannel, Data & Analytics and New Business. For the past two years, he has served as CIO at Alliander, where he spearheaded the radical acceleration of the company’s digitisation strategy. This means Koning has a valuable track record in the area of digitisation and the restructuring of that process in two different industries.

Regarding his appointment, Koning says: ‘During my talks with AutoBinck, I found the combination of ambition and innovation, along with their family-business roots, extremely appealing. The same applies to their ambitions in connection with digitisation and sustainability. I’m therefore very much looking forward to teaming up with colleagues within AutoBinck Group in order to further develop and execute that strategy.’

‘AutoBinck is shifting its focus from providing cars to providing mobility’, says CEO Paul Zekhuis. ‘This transition calls for additional attention to the digitisation of our companies and the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility. We expect that, as an Executive Board member, Martijn Koning will contribute positively in this area.’
