As of 1 January 2016, Brezan Automaterialen will acquire Autogros, its largest franchisee. Autogros has a total of nine branches in the Dutch provinces of Groningen, Drenthe and Overijssel.

The acquisition of Autogros represents the final stage of dramatic reorganisation of the Brezan network carried out in 2014 and 2015. During this period, Brezan has acquired and integrated 35 of its franchise partners. The acquisition of USN was also finalised by the end of this year. The acquisition of Autogros dovetails seamlessly with the realisation of Brezan’s vision for the future, that of strengthening the chain in order to intensify its market approach.

Brezan uses a so-called ‘mixed model’ in the commercial operation of its sales outlets: some of the branches are owned by the company, while the rest are operated by franchisees. These franchisees have remained of crucial importance to Brezan, primarily with regard to supply from the local/regional market to consolidate policy decisions at the strategical and operational levels. After the acquisition of the Autogros branches, Brezan will own 102 branches in the Benelux, with another 28 branches under franchisee management.

AUTOGROS

Brezan’s acquisition of Autogros will also see the retirement of the current owner and general manager, Mr G. J. Vos. His son Erik has been responsible for the operational management of Autogros for a considerable time, and will continue his role in close collaboration with Frank Doorenbos, Commercial Director of Brezan. Frank Doorenbos: ‘I’m pleased that Erik is staying at the helm and that the Vos family will continue their involvement. Erik is to play a significant role in ensuring the smooth integration of the Autogros branches and will remain an important point of contact for both staff and customers.’

Mr Vos Sr: ‘We’ve been active in the car materials, tools and equipment market in the north-east of the Netherlands since 1969. The partnership with Brezan dates back to the 1970s, when a Brezan dealership was established. Thus, we combined and strengthened our purchasing power. Through the years, the partnership evolved into the current franchise set-up. Innovative marketing and leading logistical strength are the spearheads of this enterprise, supported by a state-of-the-art IT system. The transfer of our company to Brezan will safeguard the continuity of our work, and I’m convinced that both our employees and our customers will benefit from the acquisition. My retirement is the final page in a wonderful chapter of my life, and I would like to thank everyone for all the years of enjoyable collaboration!’
